Good Lord- there's so much foolishness here it's hard to know where to begin...

Yes, I live in a country filled with people who want the best of the world and make precious little in trade for it.

"Republican management has caused almost all of this, and they just added another $5 trillion more to cover last week."

You've got to be fucking kidding. Democrats controled both the house and senate for the majority of time since Nixon was elected in 1978. Therefore, any budget set in front of any president, Democrat or Republican, was one the Jackass party signed off on.

"We have much BIGGER problems. We've shipped many jobs away and imported so many cheap guest workers that we can't possibly afford to pay our debt, much less keep importing energy and goods at a level to support the comforts we expect."

A dubious claim at best, with nothing offered to support the implied reltionship.

"Our crops are a result energy-intensive farming, so even food could be a problem if we're not careful. Bank failures and crop failures are tricky -- see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_Plot";

I don't know any serious economist who cites Wikipedia for anything.

Even if Obama is elected it might just be that the right wing could still come in for the final kill of the constitution soon -- we're in that deep.

"Whining about a small country trying to protect itself while we ourselves give passes for others is not going to give a good result. Constant lying in political ads won't work either."

This is just a bunch of gibberish. 'Give a good result'? Come on, you can do better than that.

Sorry for the jeremiad (a text that denounces a society for its wickedness, like from the prophet Jeremiah).

You really are sort of silly. I'd just go away if I were you- you really just sound like a little bit of a quack.

The budget is controlled (proposed, forecast, and managed) by the Executive Branch. Sure "sign-off" might sound powerful but it's of course riddled by add-ons. It's a tango but led by the executive.

And your counting memory seems frayed.

Your response is barely intelligible -- those ARE English words but they don't explain how you think we can pay our debt and if foreign lenders will continue to support us indefinitely.

We are not serious economists, most of whom are phony hacks interested in cash or lost in academic nonsense. The OMB head under Reagan got into trouble for admitting that they had no clue what was going with the numbers.

In any case serious crop failures compounded problems of finance in the Great Depression. Earth changes are even more serious now, and major economics problems could pose a threat to democracy. Obama might not be as well placed and influential as FDR, and with the erosion of freedoms under Bush you just have to wonder if we can avoid another Business Plot (see the video on Google or the wikipedia entry).

I'm sorry but I expect more of Deadheads, like having been exposed to history beyond MacNeil/Lierh and the myths of America. Nothing fancy just some basic sampling of Howard Zinn, Chomsky, and this guy:

This is a silly board for God's sake. It was sloppy not gibberish, and to claim that is just more hand waiving and avoidance. Lie unto others before they try to straighten things out -- that a Republican homily.

Sorry no, but I learned to duck.
(duck, it's Wayne Brady, son)

Please do tell -- how can a small country without weapons of mass destruction be such a threat to the country with the largest arsenal in the history of the earth?

Pride blinds us to our sin. Go ahead feed your anger and feel the power of the dark side -- "bomb them back to shtone" as the generals like to say.

Choose one lyric fragment from the shadowbox:
Just one thing for ME
I know you'll think of ME

Time vampires, ahhhh

Obviously the Nixon thing was a typo, however...

Here's the thing. People like Zinn and Chumpsky are basically jokes. They might be big deals to stoned sophomores and lazy, tenured college profs- two of the most worthless clumps of humanity around- but to most people who make the real world run, they're fucking jokes.

America is not what is wrong with the world. Point blank period. Wacky doomsday cultists like that freak running the show in Iran, on the other hand, are very much an issue. Sorry if you won't accept it, but it doesn't make it any less of a fact.

At least posters like BD have some wit and charm about them. You just come off like a self-impressed ass bag. You really need to go back and look at how silly your stuff sounds. Come back to the big people's table when you've grown up.

You saying Wacky, doomsday, cultists, and calling serious scholars jokes doesn't make it TRUE. Venom isn't fact substitute.

Thinking you're one of big people, well I told you about pride. Check your best book on that.

And really, duck it's Wayne Brady, son.

But seriously, I could share what I know or reconstruct what I think I know if you want to explore a topic in more depth.

I might be able to muster a more friendly tone, you'd have to stick to facts!

Not to argue your points, but "since Nixon was elected in 1978"?

...even Richard Nixon has soul...

which way to zuma beach?
